Final Reflection

Dear Olivia,

Through ENGL 116 you have learned not only how to understand the history of writing, but also how to fully appreciate writing. You learned how to properly define writing, technology, culture, and other terms that help to fully understand language and how people communicate. You have learned various ways people have communicated over time and how that has impacted culture and society as a whole.

In high school, you explored ancient forms of writing in your Latin class, but in this class you were able to view technology in a more wholesome and circular way. A large component of this was visiting Ackland Art Museum and viewing both classical and modern forms of technology. Through this you have learned how to interpret literary and art pieces.

Through this class your skills as a writer have improved. Like the video shows above, you have learned how to fully appreciate forms of writing and literature. You are able to understand the origins of writing and therefore to be able to properly analyze and build upon past works.

In the future, I hope that you will build upon your research by continuing to journal. This is the most primitive and vulnerable form of writing, and by doing this you are able to fully build upon your own history of writing. This is the best way to build upon past works.
